Lumpia and Bihon for lunch

This is our lunch today. I was in the mood to cook today and thought about making some lumpia and Bihon because I hadn't made some for a while. My Babe Dako was so happy when he saw the lumpia and bihon that I brought with him to work.
We even ate some for dinner tonight. It was so yummy! My Babe Dako's favorite filipino foods for sure!

Do you love shopping?

Well, I really love to go shopping. My favorite day of the year for shopping is Black Friday. I always scour the thanksgiving ads the week before and then I like to go to bed early on Thanksgiving eve. Some of the stores open at midnight around here but I am not so crazy as to go shopping that early. I am always able to find great deals but the crowds are unbelievable and if I get in line to wait in the wrong store then I waste a lot of precious time when I could be finding great sales at another store. Well, I have the solution for this year. Black Friday is the website that links you directly to the stores that have the best sales. I can get the same great deals online and not have to waste so much time in lines and even worse in stores that don't sale items that I am looking for. They even have my favorite store SamsClub. SamsClub has the best deals in the world if you have the storage space but, even more so on Black-Friday.net. My Husband and I love to get our items in bulk and we have a storage closet just for stuff we get from there. They also have nice selection electronics from Plasma TVs and phones to Ipod’s. In fact, we just bought our all in one printer, scanner. I always leave the store with a huge cart full of stuff but of course they never give you bags to put the stuff which took me sometime to get used to. If you love SamsClub then you need to check out black-friday.net, they also have a whole lot more merchants you can check out.

No one can stop her

It is just unbelievable how far she achieved. She received a standing ovation twice when she performed with the greatest celebrity in the US on Saturday show with Josh Groban, John Mayer and Alicia Keys in a show organized by Foster at the Grand Opening of the MGM Grand Casino-Hotel at Foxwoods in Connecticut. Whom I am talking about? Click here to read more.

Wedding Monthsary

Today is our wedding Monthsary. It is our one year and 10 months wedding anniversary. I am so happy to be with my Babe Dako. We did not really do a lot today to celebrate but we did some shopping. It was nice to spend the day together at least. We ate lunch (which was really our breakfast) at Wafflehouse. Since it was lunch we did not eat any waffles but I had a pork chop, my Babe Dako had a steak sandwich. We also have a huge pile of hash browns which are the signature dish at Wafflehouse. After that, we went to the Outlets to find some shoes for Papa. We spent over 3 hours there and I got a pair of Nike shoes for Papa and I got myself the same shoes. I have not gone clothes shopping with my Dako since I got my car. I could tell he had enough though so I took him back home then I went back to the Outlets and bought some more clothes for myself and for him. Well, when I got back we had Chicken Satay on the grill for dinner. It was very nice to eat together and spend the day together. We really love to spend time together and can never get enough. I know there will be many, many Monthsary's ahead of us to celebrate.

I thank the Lord for his blessings into our marriage and we are forever greatful that we found each other.

I love you my Babe Dako. Happy wedding Monthsary!

Memorial Weekend

This weekend is Memorial weekend and my husband is thinking about his Grandfather. His grandfather served in World War II and served in the Navy. Fortunately, for my Husband his Grandfather was able to survive the war and come back home. It is weekends like this that makes us think of him. This would be a good weekend for us to go and visit his grave site. When we visit the cemetery where my husband's Grandfather lies, my husband makes sure that he has new flowers. We found that the best place to get nice flower for his headstone online is at Gravesite Masters. It is very rare but on those occasions when we cannot go to honor him in person we have found that they have flower delivery for funerals and grave sites. They even allow you to have this service for a reasonable price. I have a problem thinking of price when we honor my husband's Grandfather but it does allow us to do more and send a larger bouquet of flowers. They have the same services as a teleflora florist but they will send flower directly to your loved ones Gravesite. If you need to send flowers or any floral arrangements even if it is composed of silk flowers or a rose flower you can have your sympathy flowers delivered by Gravesite Masters today.

A room with a view

Do you know what my biggest fear is? I get lost in a forest or something like that forces me into a remote jungle. Then I lose my glasses or even worse I am wearing my contacts which of course after a few days straight wear are worthless. Can you imagine being in the middle of nowhere and you are unable to see beyond your own toes. Hearing the noises all around you but never knowing what the sounds really are, even if they are but a few feet away. There is a solution to prevent this nightmare. Go to Lasik in Walnut Creek today to get your eyes fixed. It is painless and over 12 million people have gotten corrective surgery. Even top US Military pilots are have the procedure. If it is good enough for America's best then surely for us ordinary folk it will change our lives and avoid the nightmare in the jungle without glasses.

Tickets in Hand

Yehey, I am so happy when I received our tickets in the mail today from Orbitz. If you read my post on my other blog my Babe Dako and I decided to purchased our tickets this month even our trip is 4 months away due to the fuel cost raising and we were afraid that ticket prices might raise with it. It is nice to have the peace of mind to know that we have the tickets in hand. The trip feels more real. I know the exact date I will get there and the date we leave. Just can't wait that day and be on board the plane. I just have to remind myself everyday that I will get to see my family again soon. Hays! I am so excited to see my niece and nephew for the first time since they were born. Anyway, I have not told my family the dates of our trip because I am going to keep it a secret. Pssstt!!

Dancing in the Stars: Kristi Won

I was right with my prediction when the show started that Kristi would win the whole show. She was my favorite right from the beginning. She had the highest total score for anyone on any season. It helped also that she has a really nice personality that's why the audience liked her alot. Well, she can dance technically on the floor no matter how hard it is. That made her on top. Anyway, she deserved to win. Congrats to Kristi!

What is your beuty plan?

Beauty advice that works well for one person may not work at all for another. So why would you get advice from a generic beauty and health website that gives the same advice to everyone? At best you have to wade through page after page of advice that really is not applicable to your skin, hair or even age. Go to Beauty for Life and take the Beauty For Life Quiz. They start you off with a quiz so they can tailor the advice and beauty plan specifically for you. It takes into account your age, tones, hair color and many other factors. Why read advice for someone else when you can get the information about your beauty and health that you care about.

American Idol Finale, will Americans watch?

There are some who are not so excited about Idol this week. You can see some of the past winner have become successful if not in the record industry. This season seemed to start with a high quality singers and supposed ringers. The last few weeks have seen some of the worst performances so late in the show.

But despite the low ratings there are still many big fans out there. It is not the ratings juggernaut it was, but it is still winning its time slots hands down. I would expect to see some changes next season that will renew the show and bring it back from the dead.

Big Brown wins the Preakness second leg of the Triple Crown.

Big Brown won the Preakness. Now he has two legs of the Triple Crown. I guess that is a big deal if you are into horse racing but just seems like there are so many other triple crowns. I think the reason this is such a big deal has more to do with the fact that in the modern era no horse has been able to complete the triple crown. Will this be the year? I would like to think I am on the edge of my seat but really I don't care so much. Maybe I will be interested if Big Brown wins. He does have a cool name though.. Big Brown.

For my Best Friend

Looking back through the years,
I can't believe how long
We have been best friends,
Through good times and bad.

When I needed someone to cry,
With me and laugh together
Give me a shoulder to lean on,
And a hug to make me feel better.

You know how true it is,
When you know that no matter what
Happens or goes on down the road,
That there will always be best friends.

So as time passes and days go by,
Just remember that when you need me
That no matter what time or place,
I will always be there by your side, my best friend.

Time to buy a Tippmann Paintball Gun

Ok, it has been a while since I played paintball. So last weekend we decided to try it again. Last time, I played just a bunch of us with Paintball guns went out in the woods and shot at each other. Since I have lost all my gear I had to go out and get some new gear first. I went online to Ultimate Paintball and of course bought the top of the line Tippmann x7.

The biggest surprise was how much more organized things are. Now, they already have organized Paintball Parks with teams and referees. Of course my trusty Tippmann served me well even though those young guns seemed to get the best of me time and time again. The guys were surprised at the quality of my gear being such a newbie. I had to tell them that I got it all online at Ultimate Paintball. They have everything at that site and stuff I was surprised to find.

Weekend Dinner at Ruby Tuesday

Last night, my Babe Dako and I ate our dinner at Ruby Tuesday. I was happy to go back there again and get to ordered my favorite menu the New Orleans Seafood and Asian Dumplings. That was so yummy. My Babe Dako ordered Ribs & Louisiana Fried Shrimp.
It was a very good weekend dinner though. I took some pics of our foods from my phone unfortunately, I was not able to figure it out yet how to upload in my computer. I have a new phone so I still have to learn some features on it lol. Well, it was only my excuse because I am lazy to get off my butt here I guess my phone was in my purse hehee.. Anyway, I might post it next time but here's some glance of ours before we left to eat our dinner.
The New Sandals I bought. Feels very comfortable!

Planning for a Wedding?

Last year, I went to my cousin's wedding. He is an officer in the Navy and was wearing a ceremonial sword. My other cousin who is about three years old was the ring bearer. While the preacher was going over the vows my little cousin decided he wanted to get a closer look at the sword. So he started to play with the tip. It was very funny because no one stopped him for a few minutes. We love to watch the video of the wedding because everyone in the church was so serious and he was front and center just playing.

Blood Type = Personality Type

I have been tagged by Cheerful.
Thank you for this tag sis.

According to a Japanese institute that does research on blood types, there are certain personality traits that seem to match up with certain blood types.

TYPE O
You want to be a leader, and when you see something you want, you keep striving until you achieve your goal. You are a trend-setter, loyal, passionate, and self-confident. Your weaknesses include vanity and jealously and a tendency to be too competitive.

TYPE A
You like harmony, peace and organization. You work well with others, and are sensitive, patient and affectionate. Among your weaknesses are stubbornness and an inability to relax.

TYPE B
You're a rugged individualist, who's straightforward and likes to do things your own way. Creative and flexible, you adapt easily to any situation. But your insistence on being independent can sometimes go too far and become a weakness.

TYPE AB
Cool and controlled, you're generally well liked and always put people at ease. You're a natural entertainer who's tactful and fair. But you're standoffish, blunt, and have difficulty making decisions.

How do you rate?

This tag reminds me of my college days. I first knew my blood type when I was in college the Red Cross Organization in our school were having a free consultation including the blood types. I was so scared at first when they checked my blood type haha well, thankfully I knew that I am blood TYPE O. It says " You want to be a leader, and when you see something you want, you keep striving until you achieve your goal. You are a trend-setter, loyal, passionate, and self-confident. Your weaknesses include vanity and jealously and a tendency to be too competitive.
I guess my blood type fits my personality which is really true that I want to be a leader. I was always a leader lol. I really have to agree that I do everything to reach my goals, striving so hard to achieve my goal in life which I am right now! Having said, I am very confident with myself of course with God's help. Very loyal and passionate to my behalf. Hmm...I had all those weaknesses before I moved here in the US. I have a new whole world right now so those weaknesses were all vanished lol..

Tagging all my blogger friends. You are free to grab this tag, let see if your blood type really fits your personality.

Edutexlink the best links on the web

We all know one of the best ways to get eyeballs to your website is to have Google and other search engines recognize your website or web page with a high rank. You can buy text links to increase your page rank but links from other sites are just .com links and they are not the best value for your dollar spent.

As we know the better quality or relevant the site that links to your website the higher your rank becomes. So trying to get an advertising campaign rolling with just a normal link site will not as valuable links since those links are usually from site with low page rank themselves. Though any link is better than no link, why settle for a low ranking link site to build your links especially when there is a new alternative in town. One quirk in the system is the value of edu links. Since there are fewer .edu websites if you get a link from an .edu website it will give your website Google or other search engines instantly recognize that as a high ranking link, merely because it comes from a .edu website. The reason is .edu sites must be from an educational institution and typically those sites have been around for a decade so they have many well established links all over the world giving them high Page ranks. So naturally an .edu site stands out in the crowd, the same as .gov site.

So if you are going to buy links then you want to get them from edu link. They have a whole range of .edu site that they can post a link to your site and instantly raise your page rank just from the fact that it is an .edu site. It is an amazing but true concept. Edutexlink is the first link building website built on .edu domains. If you want to add high quality links today check them out!

What does the future hold for the next generation in the Philippines?

Some say living in the US is a great opportunity because it is the land of milk and honey. What about those who are living in the Philippines? It is the land of poverty? Indeed, many people are suffering from poverty in the Philippines. Sometimes I think what will the future be for the next generation of Filipino kids especially with the state of the current Philippine Government? Only those on the top benefit from the money that has been collected from the Public. What about those poor people who are living in the rural areas? Will they get the some benefit from public monies?

A few years from now what do you think will happens the Philippines? The poor will become poorer and the rich will become richer? With the high prices of basic commodities and the never ending gas high prices which continue to increase, I really don't know what the future will hold for my nieces and nephews. Those were the question in mind that nobody knows. Anyway, I came across to this very interesting Article.

My Babe Dako says that the problem is all the corruption at every level of Government. With a corrupt government no one obeys the law and in the end the poor and powerless lose out. Bribes and kick backs are a way of life in the Philippines but in the US those actions will get you thrown in jail. I pray that someday we will find a way to root out the corruption and rid our country of the shackles of poverty.

Trip to New York

We were thinking about going to the Pinoy festival in New York this weekend thinking about the things to do in New York and I was reminded of the last time I was in New York. We were trying to get to Manhattan and got lost when we got off the Highway to get some gas. Wow, we ended up on the bad side of town. I am sure it was safer than we thought but we made sure we locked all the doors. I remember seeing a burned out car on the side of the road and graffiti on all the walls. It also turned out not to be so easy getting back on the highway as we found out the roads were one-way and that one-way was always away from the highway. Well, eventually we found our way back onto the highway and found our way to Manhattan and the hotel we were supposed to stay in.

Next time I go to New York I am going to find sightseeing tours to make sure I know where I am going. If we make that trip I am going to use Trusted Tours & Attractions to plan my trip so as to avoid ending up on the wrong side of New York. You can sign up for their Newsletter here. If you sign up today for the newsletter at Trusted Tours & Attractions then you will be entered for the chance to win a $150 iTunes Gift Card. They have things to do in a lot of other cities too like Things to do in Atlanta.

Shopping Together

This week end my Babe Dako and I went grocery shopping together first time since I got my own car. I was lucky he was in great mood and kept following me to every corner of the store hehe. Well, we did a lot this weekend as part of celebrating Mother's day. Shopping, Cleaning the house, rearranging our things in the kitchen etc. I could say that I am completely happy with the new look of our kitchen. My Babe Dako managed to moved things/appliances to their respective nice place. Here are the things we bought summer styles napkins, paper plates and plastic glasses.

The Mandoline above is very cool because it makes my cooking easy and painless. I can easily cut onions, carrots, cucumber etc. to any style or slices I wanted.
Another vacuum cleaner for me. Our old vacuum cleaner is too big for me because every time I use it just so heavy though lol. So, I told my babe Dako I needed the smaller one. I liked this better because it smaller like me lol. btw, Its easy to use and clean the dirt. Not only all the shopping but we cleaned the house and did a ton of laundry.

After a very long day here's what we had for dinner courtesy of my Babe Dako-:)

Jung SuWon Martial Arts School

I love martial arts. It is a great form of exercise with the added benefit that you learn about self defense. I was very interested reading this article about Jung SuWon. Tae Yun Kim is the founder of Jung Suwon Martial Art Academy. She teaches the gentler version of Korean taekwondo. Her famous quote is "Visualize fear, knock the fear away." Since she came to the US in 1968 she has done a lot to promote taekwondo particularly for women setting up the first women's division in an international taekwondo competition.

Put A Smile On My Face

I am working all day feeling so tired but when I received in the mail the new phone my Babe Dako got for me that put a big smile on my face. Honestly, the first phone he gave me I did not really like very much. He brought the phone to the airport when he picked me up so I just said I liked it even it was not what I wanted heheh.. After few months I got here I told him that I didn't like the phone just being honest right? When I got here at first I was not very interested in what kind of Phone I had like when I was in Phils and Singapore. Here, I am contented whatever kinds of gadgets I have as long as I have the means to communicate with my Babe Dako when he's gone or I am out. I have big smile on my face when I told him today that I like the phone... Funny we got unexpected call from our phone company yesterday it was happened the girl who called was a Filipina . Since our phone contract was about to expire they offered us some new phones so that we would extend our contract. The phone company we have is great and the reception here is very good so we had no interest in changing companies. So we were glad to take new phones and extend our contract since we had not planned to switch anyway. I was very happy to finally have a phone that I really like and can show off in public-:)

The One Dollar Bill

Just wanna share the facts about a dollar bill I received from my former boss.

THE UNITED STATES ONE DOLLAR BILL

Take out a one dollar bill, and look at it. The one dollar bill you're looking at first came off the presses in 1957 in its present design.

This so-called paper money is in fact a cotton and linen blend, with red and blue minute silk fibers running through it. It is actually material. We've
all washed it without it falling apart. A special blend of ink is used, the contents we will never know. It is overprinted with symbols and then it
is
sta rched to make it water resistant and pressed to give it that nice crisp look.
If you look on the front of the bill, you will see the United States Treasury Seal.
On the top you will see the scales for a balanced budget.

In the
the center you have a carpenter's square, a tool used for an even cut.
Underneath is the Key to the United States
Treasury.
That's all pretty easy to figure out, but what is on the back of that dollar bill is something we should all know.

If you turn the bill over, you will see two circles.

Both circles, together, comprise the Great Seal of the United States .
The First Continental Congress requested that Benjamin Franklin and a group of men come up with a Seal. It took them four years to accomplish this task and another two years to get it approved.
If you look at the left-hand circle, you will see a Pyramid.

Notice the face is lighted, and the western side is dark. This country was just beginning. We had not begun to explore the West or decided what we could do for Western Civilization.

The Pyramid is uncapped, again signifying that we were not even close to being finished. Inside the capstone you have the all-seeing eye, and ancient symbol for divinity.
It was
Franklin's belief that one man couldn't do it alone, but a group of men, with the help of God, could do anything.

"IN GOD WE TRUST" is on this currency.

The Latin above the pyramid, ANNUIT COEPTIS, means, "God has favored our undertaking."
The Latin below the pyramid, NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM, means, "a new order has begun."
At the base of the pyramid is the Roman Numeral for 1776. (MDCCLXXVI)
If you look at the right-hand circle, and check it carefully,

you will learn that it is on every National Cemetery in the United States. It is also on the Parade of Flags Walkway at the Bushnell, Florida National Cemetery, and is the centerpiece of most hero's monuments.
Slightly modified, it is the seal of the President of the United States , and it is always visible whenever he speaks, yet very few people know what the symbols mean.
The Bald Eagle was selected as a symbol for victory for two reasons:
First, he is not afraid of a storm; he is strong and he is smart enough to soar above it.
Secondly, he wears no material crown. We had just broken from the King of England.

Also, notice the shield is unsupported. This country can now stand on its own.
At the top of that shield you have a white bar signifying Congress, a unifying factor.
We were coming together as one nation.
In the Eagle's beak you will read, " E PLURIBUS UNUM", meaning, "one nation from many people".
Above the Eagle, you have thirteen stars, representing the thirteen original colonies, and any clouds of misunderstanding rolling away.
Again, we were coming together as one.
Notice what the Eagle holds in his talons. He holds and olive branch and arrows. This country wants peace, but we will never be afraid to fight to preserve peace.
The Eagle always wants to face the olive branch, but in time of war, his gaze turns toward the arrows.
They say that the number 13 is an unlucky number. This is almost a worldwide belief. You will usually never see a room numbered 13, or any hotels or motels with a 13th floor.
<>But think about this:
13 original colonies,
13 signers of the Declaration of Independence,
13 stripes on our flag,

13 steps on the Pyramid,
13 letters in the Latin above,
13 letters in "E Pluribus Unum",
13 stars above the Eagle,
13 bars on that shield,
13 leaves on the olive branch,
13 fruits, and if you look closely, 13 arrows.
And, for minorities: the 13th Amendment.
I always ask people, "Why don't you know this?" Your children don't know this, and
their history teacher s don't know this.
Too many veterans have given up too much to ever let the meaning fade.
Many veterans remember coming home to an America that didn't care. Too many veterans never came home at all.
Share this page with everyone, so they can learn what is on the back of the UNITED STATES ONE DOLLAR BILL, and what it stands for...

Otherwise, they will probably never know...

Cyclone Hits Myanmar 40% Dead are Children

Reading the Philippine Inquirer head lines today makes me sad. You have seen on the news about the devastated storm hits in Myanmar which is 40% of dead are children.. Oh God help them! I pray those children who have died will rest in peace and those who have survive must thank and praise GOD for the gift of life. Read More...
It is a shame the Government does not allow other countries to lend assistance. So many more will suffer and some will even die because the Military Dictatorship will not allow particularly the United States to help them.

Wimbledon is just around the Corner

When I was in college I really enjoyed playing tennis. I have not played personally for a while but I love to watch. Speaking of tennis, Wimbledon is just around the corner. Just less than two months till it is time once again for world premier tennis. I have never been there to watch it live while eating strawberries and drinking champagne. I think this might be the year though that I take that hop across the pond and watch it live. There is so much history involved in the entire tournament. Trying to watch here at home is always so hard since they play at odd hours. Even if you watch on tape delay you are afraid to look at the internet because you might accidentally find out who won. I am sure watching it live would be so much better. I do know that I am not going over there without Wimbledon debenture tickets already in my hand. I would hate to get over there and not have some awesome court side tickets for the Main Court at the all England Tennis Club before I left. I really do think that this is the year that I am going to watch it live.

Join us at SocialSpark Network

I just signed up for SocialSpark. It is a new site from IZEA. Here is my profile. I only have a few friend so far, I need to find a few more. SocialSpark is an amazing new concept that combines the world of social sites with media marketing and blogging. It is an entire network designed to provide a place for advertisers to create media campaigns utilizing blogs and bloggers that fit the message they want to convey. That makes it a social site that pays real money.

First, looking around the site it is a bit confusing with so many new tabs, menu's and list but after surfing for a few minutes (and turning off my adblocker on firefox) I started to see some familiarity with other social networking sites on this site is based around blogs. You can not only see your friends but you see all the statistics about that persons blogs, take this one for example. You not only see who your friends are but you can see who is reading their blogs. This allows you to create communities with SocialSpark based on the kind of people that read your blogs. That just blows my mind. I cannot wait to dive in more to find friends that share the same audience as myself. Just think how much more to be have advertisers that want to reach my readers to chose me to post for them on my blog. I feel like I have only scratched the surface of SocialSpark. It will revolutionize the way I blog and make blogging profitable.

This post was sponsored by SocialSpark.com check them out so you can get sponsored too.

Barber Me!

So here is what I have accomplished during my break in blogging. I cut my Babe Dako's hair. He had such long hair it really needed to be cut very bad. There was a lot of hair all over the floor and all over his shirt. I cannot believe how much hair came out of his head. When I first got here he got his hair cut in the barber and I never liked the way they cut it. Since then, I didn't want him to go back. Now, we save money and I get to cut it the way I like-:). He did not know before but his was the first head of hair I cut. I did a pretty good job for the first time though. You can see the pictures of my handy work heheh. Anyway, it is nice to be back to blogging. But I think you need to take a break once in a while.

I'm Back

Wow! I didn't make any post for almost a week. Now, I need to make up you all. Lately, I didn't feel like doing my rounds either posting some entries or even catching some fish on triple P. I am sorry to those of you who have leave me messages for not paying you a visit. I didn't ignore you guys just took a lil break. I AM BACK!!
